How is the decision to delay or close Fourth Circuit Court Made?

When inclement weather makes local travel difficult, the Judge will close Fourth Circuit Court when the Knox County Mayor closes all Knox County offices.


How do I find out if Fourth Circuit Court is delayed or closed for the day?

The Judge’s office strives to inform the public as quickly as possible of the decision to delay or close Court on a given day.  Accordingly, a number of local media outlets are informed of the decision as soon as it is made.  Please check the following local media outlets to find out whether Fourth Circuit Court is delayed or closed on a given day.


What if I have business with the Fourth Circuit Court on a day when Court is delayed or closed?

Delayed opening

If the Fourth Circuit Court is on a delay, the Court will open at 10 a.m.  This means Court business will begin at 10:00 a.m., and all parties with business before the Court need to be present.

Closing  

If the Fourth Circuit Court is closed for the day, all business scheduled with the Court must be reset for another day.
