Adult oriented businesses and their employees located in Knox County are required to obtain a license from the Knox County Clerk.
Application Process for Adult Oriented Business
Applicants must apply in person. Complete the Application for License to Operate a Sexually Oriented Business. The application must be notarized and accompanied by the following:
- Sketch or diagram of showing configuration and total floor space of the premises
- Fee of $100.00
Application Process for Adult Oriented Business Employee
Applicants must apply in person. Complete the Application for Sexually Oriented Business Employee License. The application must be accompanied by the following:
- Copy of Driver’s License or Birth Certificate
- Fee of $50.00
Inspection
Sexually oriented businesses and sexually oriented business employees shall permit the county building code department to inspect, from time to time on an occasional basis, the portions of the sexually oriented business premises where patrons are permitted, for the purpose of ensuring compliance, during those times when the sexually oriented business is occupied by patrons or is open to the public.
Expiration of license
Each license shall remain valid for a period of one calendar year from the date of issuance unless otherwise suspended or revoked. Such license may be renewed only by making application and payment of a renewal fee ($50.00 for business and $25.00 for employee)
