In September of 2023, KCHD was awarded funding through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Overdose Data to Action-Local (OD2A) program. OD2A-Local is a 5-year cooperative agreement between the CDC and substate level jurisdictions aimed at addressing opioid overdose at the local level. KCHD was one of 40 substate jurisdictions to be selected for the current cycle of funding.
The overall purpose of KCHD’s OD2A project is to reduce the number of substance use related injuries and overdose deaths within Knox County. KCHD aims to achieve this goal through a variety of methods such as increasing harm reduction outreach, supporting community programs that link people to substance use treatment, providing local clinicians with evidence-based opioid prescribing best practice education, and more.
A vital component of putting overdose data into action is creating a space where the community can access timely and relevant data regarding substance use related issues in our area. Visit this page for all available data that is produced through the KCHD OD2A project including the monthly Community Overdose Monitoring Reports.
