From improving school readiness, to connecting children to medical services, to receiving healthy food for your family, the Knox County Health Department has quality programs designed to help your family thrive. Learn more about each program by clicking the links below.

Family Support Services Highlights

  • CHANT image

    This program helps link participants to health services and community resources to make sure they have the care they need. It's FREE for pregnant women, children and youth under the age of 21 including those with special healthcare needs.

  • Parents as Teachers image

    Learn how to be your child’s first and most<
    influential teacher! This FREE prenatal to
    kindergarten program improves children’s
    school readiness, provides early detection
    of developmental delays, and offers fun
    community events for participants!

  • Power To Quit image

    Receive $50 gift cards when you commit to quit smoking! This FREE program offers
    private counseling in a judgment-free space to help pregnant women and their families quit smoking. Partners/spouses can also join and receive incentives.

  • WIC

    WIC image

    A FREE service that provides healthy food, nutrition education, and referrals to resources. Eligible families receive electronic benefit
    cards to purchase WIC-approved healthy
    foods at participating grocery stores. WIC serves thousands of pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants, and
    children under the age of five in the
    community.

On the first Wednesday of each month (excluding August), KCHD will open at 11 a.m. due to monthly in-service. The 2024 in-service dates include Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4.
